Easter: What Is Christian Easter? - Jimmy Hall

Ok, forget society's definition and celebration of Easter. This special "Holy Day" has zero to do with eggs or bunny rabbits or nice dresses, etc... I want to share with you what the real and true Easter is. So, what is Christian Easter?

Christian Easter

In a nutshell, Christian Easter is a day of celebration of Jesus Christ's rise from the dead after being crucified on a Roman cross, thereby defeating sin, Satan, and death to make Himself a sacrifice for all of those that believe upon Him and His holy name.

Without this sacrifice/atonement of Jesus Christ (Christ Jesus), no one could fellowship with God; everyone would be doomed to eternal Hell versus eternal life with God.

Jesus - Sentenced To Death

On what we term "Good Friday" (though arguable), after the Jewish Council found Jesus guilty of blasphemy and worthy of death, He was then sent before Pilate, Herod (the second one), and Pilate again, so that the Roman authority for capital punishment could be employed.

Despite initial reservations from both Pilate and Herod, Pilate finally consented to order the execution - but even then offered to let Jesus be the prisoner set free (as was the custom at the time, to let one person be spared/excused). The Jews REFUSED. The Lord Jesus was nailed via hands and feet to the cross and raised up on Friday (arguably).

Jesus' Crucifixion & Rise From The Dead

After approximately 5-7 excruciating hours on the cross, Jesus willingly "gave up the Ghost" and died. He was placed in a tomb, secured with a large boulder. On the 3rd day, just as the Holy Bible prophesied (and He said he would), He rose from the dead and appeared to hundreds of witnesses over the course of the upcoming weeks.

John 3: 16 - Believing Upon Christ

The sacrifice of the Son of God (Jesus, God in the flesh) is the most important moment in human history - really universal history. He took-on the sins of all that BELIEVE (and in a great sense even those that do not or have not). He is Savior of the world, especially to those that BELIEVE. As John 3:16 in the Bible states from Jesus' own mouth, "... He that believeth in Me shall not perish, but have everlasting life."

Consider Christ Jesus on Easter. It important to think in spiritual terms of what He did and why He had to do it. Knowing and believing in the historical figure of Jesus is NOT enough; you must accept by faith that He died for your sins. We were born wrong and sinful the first time, Jesus gives us the ability to be clean and white as snow.....
