God is Love, He says He is in the Holy Bible. However, that does not mean He loves everyone or loves all the time. As kids, many of us were falsely taught that fairy tale notion of His love for everyone in our cute little watered-down Sunday School classes, but that is NOT what the Bible says at all...... What?
God also HATES. In numerous places in Holy Scripture He says He hates certain groups and sometimes even specific people (14 times in the first 50 Psalms alone, and Roman 9 says He hated Esau before he was even born). Not enough for ya?
God ordered Moses and the Israelites to SLAUGHTER the Midianites, every man, woman, and child (Numbers 31). Genocide is not love either, is it? And, what about the Great Flood in Genesis, when God drowned and killed all but 8 human beings on Earth? Again, not love. Or, what about the Egyptian Plagues, and killing of their first-born (Exodus 7-11). In fact, Ecclesiastes 3 teaches us that there is a time to HATE and to KILL.
There is no question that God loves His own people, His own children; however, not everyone is a child of God. Romans 8:9 explains that those WITHOUT the Spirit of Christ are "none of His." Are you starting to understand?
God is righteous, holy, and sinless. As human beings, we all should feel honored to even be on this Earth. Apart from the sacrfice of the Lord Jesus Christ for Believers/ELECT, we would all still be unholy and unfit for God's love just like the Midianites and the others that could not fellowship with Him due to their sin.
